Our Location

The house is conveniently positioned in west Devon bordering Dartmoor to the east and Cornwall to the west.  We are within easy reach of the north and south coasts.  And just 15 minutes drive from the A30.  There is plenty of room to park cars.

Exeter railway station is 40 minutes drive away, and it is easy to hire a car, or share a taxi.

The closest bus stop is at Lewdown which is 3.5 miles away (6A to/from Exeter via Okehampton).

We are just off the National Cycle Network Route 27 and can house bikes undercover securely.

Exeter International Airport is 50 minutes away, and Cornwall Newquay airport an hour’s drive.

Directions from east – ie from A30 Exeter and Okehampton.

From Exeter and the M5
Take A30 for Okehampton and Bodmin. After approximately 25 miles take the Sourton Cross Exit slip road marked A386 for Tavistock, Plymouth and Bideford. At the end of the slip road turn right and then immediately left onto old A30 (West Devon Drive) signposted to Bridestowe and Lewdown. Follow the road for 6 miles into the village of Lewdown. Turn left opposite the village school (signed posted to Chillaton), left again, go past Lewtrenchard Hotel and over the narrow hump-backed bridge, turn very sharp left uphill after the bridge towards Coryton. At the T junction turn right past the old phone box and estate cottages. Up a lengthy gentle hill and when you come down the otherside you’ll see a signpost inviting you to turn left down a lane to Coryton Church and Liddaton – if you have Sat Nav it will try to take you down this lane – DO NOT take this turn. Carry on for a very short distance in the Chillaton direction and you will see our white gate on the left, and a red Royal Mail post box in the garden wall. Go through the gate and down the drive to the house.

From Plymouth
From Plymouth take A 386 for Tavistock. From Bedford Square in Tavistock, take the small road between HSBC and TSB Bank, signposted Chillaton and Lifton. About 1 mile out of Tavistock, fork left for Chillaton. Proceed straight through Chillaton. After about a mile and just after going over a small bridge you will find a cross roads with Coryton signposted to the right. Take that right turning and after about 1/3 mile you will see our white gate (and red Royal Mail post box) on your right.

From Cornwall
Join the A30, heading east towards Launceston/Okehampton. As soon as you pass over the River Tamar near Launceston (Dunheved Bridge), take the slip road off to your left sign posted Lifton. Turn right at the end of the slip road on to the old A30. Stay on this road, passing through Lifton, after a couple of miles turn right at a minor crossroads towards Portgate, keep on this narrow road all the way until you meet the Chillaton-Lewdown cross road; go straight across in the direction of Coryton and after about 1/3 mile you will see our white gate (and red Royal Mail post box) on your right.

If all else fails and you find your SatNav is determined to take you to Coryton Church (St Andrew’s) get the church onto your right, go back up the hill, turn left at the T junction and first left into our drive.
