All the major supermarkets (Waitrose, Tescos etc) and some local farm shops will deliver direct to the house. Local cooks can be contacted ahead if you would like time off self-catering or have a special celebration in mind, Let me know if you would like the contact details of some local cooks.

There are plenty of great pubs nearby with excellent food and atmosphere.

These include:

Lewtrenchard Hotel and Endsleigh Hotel have smart restaurants and are excellent for more formal meals.

Alder Vineyard is close by (EX20 4PJ) and tours of the vineyard are normally run on Fridays and Saturdays. They have a Kitchen serving light meals. Usefully, they also sell really excellent wet-suits!

Deliveroo and anything at all similar do NOT deliver meals to the house! Some takeaways might arrange for a taxi driver to deliver your order so you would have to factor in the taxi charge too – which might not be too bad with a large group. For example, I think Maida in Okehampton might deliver – at a price.

There is plenty for foodies locally, especially in Tavistock and around the famous Pannier Market. A visit to Tavistock is incomplete without a flapjack or two from the utterly delicious Flapjackery. There are three excellent butchers, a fishmonger, a specialist olive shop, and an amazing cheese shop featuring West Country cheese. A regular Friday Country Market sells homegrown produce, cakes, savouries; and a twice-monthly farmers market.

The useful and crucial basics (bread, milk, eggs etc) can be found in the Post Office in Lewdown, with a farm shop nearby in Lydford, with particularly excellent meat; great pasties in the Post Offices in Lifton and in Mary Tavy (pick some up on route to walk or beach), and a large farm shop/pick-your-own in Lifton (including a good gluten-free selection). Waitrose is in Okehampton and they deliver to the house. Tesco Direct also deliver to the house.
